The State of Marriage in our country...

Just thought I should share this. I'm a pretty laid back guy, and not many things are able to get me as riled up as discrimination against a specific demographic. Looking back... how crazy does it seem that we used to not let women vote, or let black people drink from the same drinking fountains. It seems totally nutz.

Yet, these type of things haven't gone away. We've just redirected our efforts.

Someday, we will look back on this and wonder... WTF!?

I just wish we could get on with it already.

Eh... but isn't marriage between first cousins really close to incest? I mean, well... putting aside the general intention of preventing other people from committing incest or to do things one protests, to me, marrying my first cousin is downright unacceptable.

However, throughout history millions of people married their cousins and lived very happily. Indians, for example consider cousins of the opposite sex who are the children of a sibling of the opposite sex of a parent eligible for marriage proposals. That's a long-winded explanation but that's true. Such marriages might work if the children grew up separately and all. Yet, in this age and in my community? nah... gosh.. we'd be sharing the same grandparents man... and I personally cannot imagine marrying a "brother" I grew up with.

it's 4 am so forgive me if I spoke shit. Conclusion... I don't wanna marry my cousins. And I suppose the only point those against such marriages have is that their children might be born abnormal. hmmm..... now that brings us back to the XY calculations cause I'm sure lots of people gave birth fine marrying their cousins. Perhaps we should try and follow the opposite sex of opposite sex sibling of parent rule???
